John Locke论文竞赛

  约翰·洛克论文大赛 (John Locke Institute Essay Competition)的设立是为了纪念英国著名哲学家和医生John Locke的思想并培养学生独立思考、知识渊博、推理清晰、批判性分析和善于说服的伟大作家特质。

  赛事是由位于英国牛津大学的独立教育组织John Locke Institute与牛津、普林斯顿、布朗、白金汉大学等名校教授合作组织的学术项目。

  John Locke是每年申请“爬藤选手”中最最热门的比赛之一,每年暑期吸引了全球最擅长思考和写作的中学生,评委由牛津大学教授组成,往届优胜者遍布哈耶普斯牛剑世界名校。

John Locke论文竞赛

  比赛内容

  比赛共分为哲学、政治、经济、历史、心理、法律、神学七大方向,每个方向各提供3个题目。此外,针对14岁以下的学生还设有低龄组,低龄组提供5个题目。学生需要在选题公布后选择某个方向的某个题目进行论文撰写。

  论文要求

  文章本质属于argumentative essay议论文,注重考察学生以下几方面的能力:

  1.能够对所选话题有深入的了解和研究;

  2.熟悉议论文写作格式和要求,包括基本的框架和流程;

  3.整体写作能力,包括语言表达、逻辑体系、语言风格、语法问题、规范格式等。

  每篇文章应仅解决所选主题类别中的一个问题,并且不得超过2000字(不包括图表、数据表、脚注、参考书目或作者声明)。

  评价标准

  论文将根据知识水平和对相关材料的理解、证据的有效使用、论证的质量、结构、写作风格和说服力来评判。

  适合人群

  从上文提到的参赛人数和获奖率可见该比赛的竞争压力之大,因此,推荐给善于思考、有批判性思维、无阅读外文文献书籍压力,且想锻炼自己学术写作能力的同学来参加!

  参赛资格

  任何国家的学生都可以报名。在提交截止日期,即2023年6月30日,候选人必须在18周岁及以下;低年级组参赛学生在提交截止日期必须在14周岁及以下。

  2023 年 5 月 31 日:注册截止日期

  2023年6月30日:提交截止日期

  2023 年 7 月 10 日:延迟报名截止日期(延迟报名需支付 20.00美元的费用,并于 7 月 1 日之前支付。)
